Show THIS Tuesday @ UB&G
Hey Everybody,
I’m playing a free show this Tuesday nite at that sturdy dive-bar called the Universal Bar & Grill, which is located on the banks of the mighty LA River. I’ll be playing a set @ 8:30 just before the lovely & talented Carol-Ann Plante takes the stage @ 9:30.
Details:
Tues, July 19
Universal Bar & Grill – 8:30PM (my set)
4093 Lankershim Blvd (at Cahuenga)
N. Hollywood, CA. 91602
818-766-2114
FREE
Take the subway! The UB&G is right near the Universal stop on the Red Line.

LISTENING TO:
*Alison Young: Satellite
I met Alison the first time I played Paris, we ended up singing Honky Tonk Women together. This is my favorite song of hers. See her perform it here:
www.ukuleledisco.com/satellite
*Bright Eyes: When The President Talks To God
A humorous & caustic rumination on W’s self-proclaimed religiosity. Conor keeps the necessary artistic distance for maximum focus & aim, and only loses it on the last verse. It’s available for free download on i-Tunes. Leno performance & lyrics can be found here:
www.thestoryinthesoil.com/home.html
*Notorious B.I.G: Things Done Changed
Riveting track from his debut, Ready To Die (’94). Still sounds fresh & relevant. Remarkable eye for detail & a biting sense of humor paints his best work.
*Mary J Blige: What’s the 411? (remix)
Found this remix of the old ‘90s classic on i-Tunes. Mary’s great, but Biggie just about steals the show w/his intro verse. A treat.
*The Redwalls: Falling Down
Defiant response to FCC’s recent nonsense. A call to arms to other artists, delivered in a throaty, Lennonesque-’65 croak. It’s the Mersey sound updated.
